The Hadrian’s
Wall Path National Trail
A walking holiday on Hadrian's Wall gives you the time to Immerse yourself
in Hadrian’s
Wall. This
is a fascinating
and rewarding journey alongside one of Britain’s Iconic
landmarks. Hadrian’s Wall is Europe’s largest
surviving Roman monument and a UNESCO world heritage
site. The Hadrian’s
Wall Path was opened in 2003 and follows the course of this Roman
barrier closely along it’s entire length, it is fast becoming
one of Britain’s most popular long distance paths.
Your journey starts in the vibrant city of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and takes you through the wonderful empty landscapes of Northumberland and then on into Cumbria, finishing at the mouth of the River
Solway amidst the outstanding natural beauty of the Solway
Firth.
Along the way you will be constantly amazed by the ingenuity
and determination of the Romans in their quest to control this
far flung corner of their vast empire. The wall is punctuated
by regular forts, milecastles and turrets as well as
regular museums and visitor centres to assist you in your journey of
discovery. Not forgetting of course that you will be walking
through some of the wildest and most beautiful scenery that England
has to offer. Anyone with an interest in photography will be
handsomely rewarded with magnificent light and breathtaking subject
matter.
Macs Adventure offers a wide range of
outstanding independent self-guided walking holidays on Hadrian’s Wall. Your holiday
is tailor made for you and you can choose from a range of itineraries

offer features hand-picked overnight accommodation in high quality
B&B’s, country inns, and guesthouses, – each
is unique and offers the highest levels of welcome, atmosphere
and outstanding local cuisine—, daily door to door baggage
transfer, a comprehensive guidebook, detailed map and information
pack as well as emergency support.
Highlights:
- Discovering the history and landscapes of
Hadrian’s
Wall, a UNESCO world heritage site.
- Striding alongside the best preserved section of the wall
from Chollerford to Steel Riggs.
- Savouring the change from the vibrant cityscape
of Newcastle to the peaceful serenity of the
Solway Firth.
- Tucking into delicious local produce at a lively
country pub or hidden little tearoom along
the way.
- The warm welcome at your comfortable accommodation
at the end of a long day’s walking.
"We were really pleased with all the organisation,
information pack, guide book and in particular, delighted with
the accommodation
booked for us which suited us perfectly. Our luggage was always
there when we arrived and a welcome sight when tired and perhaps
rather wet. This is the first time I have done a long distance
walk with the support of a company and luggage carrier and I
would recommend Macs Adventure to others who I know are planning
a similar trip. So very many thanks!” - Alison
