You can start this tour on any day of the week between June and September.
From June through to August is the most popular and best time to travel to Iceland due to the long hours of sunlight and the fact that the weather is at its driest and warmest then. This is also the best time for wildflowers. During this time, the main tourist sights, such as the most popular waterfalls, will get quite busy, but you shouldn’t notice it too much whilst on the walks or driving. If you prefer a quieter experience, then we would recommend either May or September. The weather isn’t quite as reliable then, but it is quieter, and the price also comes down during those months.
From May to September, Iceland becomes a haven of natural beauty with its mild weather and extended daylight hours. During this time, temperatures typically range from 5°C to 15°C (40°F to 60°F), offering a comfortable climate for exploring.
May brings the first signs of summer with blooming wildflowers, while June and July enjoy nearly 24 hours of daylight during the Midnight Sun—perfect for long days of adventure. Puffins, a highlight for many visitors, are best seen from May to mid-August, nesting along Iceland’s cliffs and coastlines. August sees a slight cool down, but remains great for outdoor activities. By September, crisp mornings and stunning fall colors signal the arrival of autumn. While the weather can shift quickly—bringing both sunshine and showers—this dynamic climate only adds to the excitement of exploring Iceland's breathtaking landscapes!
Volcanic Activity in Iceland
With over 30 active volcanic systems, Iceland is a geologically fascinating place. While eruptions are rare, it’s important to stay informed. Above all, volcanic landscapes are part of what makes Iceland magical—a land where fire meets ice. A little preparation and a spirit of adventure will help you make the most of your visit. See your Trip Info upon booking for more information.
Arrive at Keflavik International Airport, well-connected to the UK, Europe, the U.S. and other international destinations. From the UK, the flight is just 3 hours, while travelers from Boston can reach Iceland in only 5 hours. Airlines like Icelandair provide numerous direct flights from various U.S. cities, ensuring easy access to this breathtaking destination.
For your convenience, a transfer service is included with your holiday package. Upon arrival at Keflavik Airport, you’ll be whisked away to your hotel in Reykjavik. At the end of your trip, the same reliable transfer will take you back to Keflavik Airport, making your journey seamless and stress-free.
This trip does not include luggage transport, as you will carry your belongings in the car. However, we can arrange secure luggage storage. 1 piece of luggage of 23 kg (50.7 lbs) per person is included in your package.
Car Hire
We include car hire from the morning of Day 2 up to the afternoon of Day 14.
Category B1 car hire is included, based on a Kia Ceed Auto or similar (5 doors, 5 seats, automatic, diesel or fuel), suitable for 2 to 3 people with luggage.

There are other upgrades available: Category FF1, which is a Suzuki Grand Vitara 4WD or similar (5 doors, 5 seats, automatic, diesel or fuel), which is perfect for 2 to 3 people with luggage.
