Adventure of the Week: Biking Brittany, St Malo to Mont St Michel

Are you looking for a shorter biking vacation or a relaxed long weekend away with moderately easy biking, fantastic food, and iconic sights along the way? You are going to love this trip!

St Malo

In a nutshell

Cycling Brittany, St Malo to Mont St Michel is a short, easy biking vacation and the perfect way to visit some of the most iconic places in the northwest of France. Along the way, you will stop at some gorgeous restaurants, sampling crepes in St Malo or tasting freshly shucked oysters at one of the seafood stalls in Cancale.

Distance: 126km over three biking days, on a four-night break.

Grade: Easy to moderate, with a few rolling sections but mostly flat country lanes and bike paths.

Where is it?

The trip starts in the port city of St Malo, steeped in Brittany's maritime history, where you will stay for two nights. After exploring St Malo, bike to Pontorson, where you will stay for the next two nights. This part of France is postcard pretty, with the most delightful beaches and rich historical background.

Why Bike Here?

It's the perfect short break! The sights you will see along the way are irreplaceable. The food on the trip is another huge highlight. If you are a seafood lover, St Malo will be a slice of heaven for you. St Malo has so many excellent restaurants with truly traditional cuisine, and the crepes will be guaranteed to tempt you.

Savory Crepes

Pontorson, the gateway town to Mont St Michel, is reached by flat lanes, a delight to cycle, so you will be able to relax and take in all of your surroundings as you pedal on for your two-night stay. As the whole bike trip is easy to moderate, it has just enough challenge to bike off all that delicious French cuisine! Mont St Michel really is the must-visit attraction in Brittany, and you'll spend your final day with a short bike to the island commune, which rises out of the sea. So you'll have plenty of time to wander the narrow medieval streets.
