Where?
The Danube Delta!
Exceeded only by the Great Barrier Reef and the Galapagos Archipelago, the Delta is the worlds third largest region of biodiversity and is a sanctuary for over 300 species of birdlife! The Danube Delta is where the Danube meets the Black Sea at "Mile-0", at the end of almost 1800 miles of waterway. Like many bike & boat itineraries, this trip is accompanied by a guide who will show you the best of this unique corner of Romania.
Unique houses at Letea
Why cycle here?
Gentle cycling (with just a few easy hills), this out of the ordinary Danube adventure allows you to visit one of Europe's last untouched wilderness areas. You can also expect traditional and timeless villages like Letea, Medieval history (such as the fortress of Enisala), the historic monasteries of Celic Dere & Saon, and of course the company of like-minded cyclists aboard your boat.
The transport and accommodation!
Lagoons, marshland, and reed-beds host bountiful bird-life and you might be lucky to spot the Black Stork or the blue beaked White Headed Duck. Relax aboard your vessel in the evenings as the sun goes down over the Danube Delta. Heavenly!
Planning and preparation…
We recommend this tour from April to October, although in June, July and August temperatures can get hot (up to around 30 degrees centigrade) so do bear that in mind.
