Why Walk it?

The combination of stunning scenery, interesting wildlife, mouth-watering food, wine and fascinating history makes Dordogne one of the most popular destinations in France. Today’s Dordogne encompasses roughly the same area as the ancient province of Périgord, which dates back to Roman times. The landscape is beautiful, featuring rolling hills, medieval towns, picturesque apple and walnut orchards and limestone cliffs. The walk takes you along peaceful trails allowing you to explore the pretty villages along the way as well as simply admire the serene landscape. Your evenings are best spent sampling the local cuisine, which includes goose and duck. The region is also a centre for truffle hunting and is famous for the black truffle, a pricey treat. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the town atmosphere with a glass of Bergerac wine before settling down in your cosy B&B or hotel for the night.
