The town is famous for its once-in-a-decade ‘Passion Plays’, a play depicting the life and death of Jesus. The first Passion Play was performed in 1634 when the town’s inhabitants vowed to perform it every ten years if God spared the town from the bubonic plague. Aside from the plays, the town is well-known amongst outdoor enthusiasts and is a great place to start your hiking adventure.
The rooms are equipped with TV, safe, telephone, small fridge, hairdryer and free WiFi. The hotel also has a restaurant with a terrace.

After a rest, descend again, straight into the fairytale world of King Ludwig II, to Linderhof Palace. The magnificently laid out park is reminiscent of both French and Italian Baroque gardens. Here you take the bus back to Oberammergau. You also have the option to take an alternative loop walk to the summit of Kofel.

You can start your Bavarian adventure on any day between the middle of May and the end of September. Any time during this period is ideal for walking, mid-July to mid- August is high season and the towns along the way will be busy with local holiday makers. June and July is the ideal time to catch the Alpine wildflowers in full bloom.
Please remember that the weather can be changeable at high altitudes, and cold fronts can occur even in the summer (snowfall in the Alps at the height of summer is not unheard of). Storms can develop rapidly in the Alps, and hiking trail becomes prone to landslides or floods due to the swelling of nearby water sources. If rain is forecast, ensure that you are prepared with extra gear and footwear that is mud-friendly. Always be prepared and carry waterproofs and a warm layer with you in case of any changes. Always check the weather forecast before setting out, and if in any doubt ask your accommodation, or us, for advice

Your bags will be collected from your accommodation each day and moved onto your overnight accommodation. We ask you to limit your luggage to one bag of up to 20kg per person.
At Macs Adventure, we work in partnership with many luggage transfer providers who set a limit on how many bags/suitcases they will transfer per person, and also the weight of the bag/suitcase. Your booking includes transfer of 1 bag per person. It is very important that you read the luggage information specific to your tour before departure. If you do not adhere to these limits, there is a great possibility that you will be charged locally both for extra bags or if they are too heavy. This limitation can be a challenge, especially as airlines generally have limits that are higher. However, our luggage providers have reasons for these limits (usually due to the Health and Safety of their employees), which we must respect.
It is a requirement of booking this tour with Macs Adventure that you have suitable travel insurance which covers you for the activity, emergency evacuation and hospital care.
At Macs Adventure we care about the environment! We’re taking action to minimize the impact we have by converting the majority of our tour documentation for online delivery. On this tour, all your detailed tour information will be digitally delivered. You will have access to this documentation via “My Account” on our website.
