Santiago de Compostela Cathedral Restoration Completed

We have received word from our partners in Spain that the inside of the Cathedral has now been completely refurbished and we are reliably informed that the results are simply astounding! You can actually view a fascinating video about the restoration works on Galician TV here - http://www.crtvg.es/tvg/a-carta/descubrindo-a-catedral-4724311.

The Cathedral is the endpoint for just about every variety of Camino and many pilgrims enjoyed taking the pilgrims mass inside the cathedral at the end of their voyage. This was moved to alternative locations during the restoration works but we are pleased to advise that this will now be possible again inside the Cathedral! Pilgrim Mass will now be held again twice a day at 12 noon and 7:30pm (of course once Pilgrims are able to travel there again and social distancing will most likely be in place - we will keep you up to date as the news comes in!)

The Baroque Staircase

This is the only part of the Cathedral which is still undergoing some refurbishments so please keep this in mind. This is the main staircase facing Obradoiro Square.

Botafumeiro

The Botafumeiro has been swung again, but remember it will only operate on special days or the main solemnities. These can be found on the official Cathedral website.
