Star Wars rumoured to be filmed in Scotland
Scotland has frequently been favoured as a location for some of the world’s best movie creators. Most recently, movies such as Skyfall, Macbeth and The Dark Knight Rises, have been set against a backdrop of an array of magnificent Scottish scenery. Now it’s rumoured that the Highlands and the Isle of Skye feature in the much-anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, which is released this week. Apparently location bosses felt that Scotland has “stunning scenery perfect for movie backdrops”. According to film magazine Empire, which has had access to the film's director JJ Abrams and cast, includingHarrison Ford , Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, Scotland was listed alongside other parts of the UK and international locations as one of the places where filming took place. Empire does not say where in Scotland filming was done and Disney declined to comment on locations used.
