Pre-booking

It is our belief that to get the most out of a county it helps to explore at your own pace, learning about a place and allowing genuine travel experiences to happen rather than searching for experiences in a forced or contrived way. The majority of our trips are, therefore, on a self-guided basis - at this stage it is important to understand what that means. Having browsed the various tour pages on our website, be sure to have a look at those pages dedicated to providing more of the finer detail including how we grade levels of difficulty, comfort as well as the various tour styles we offer including Drive & Hike and Bike & Boat. We should stress that some environments are best experienced with a local expert. On a few of our trips, in places such as Nepal, Iceland and Morocco you'll be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide or join a small, guided group. We have still included plenty of time for independent travel within these itineraries so don't be put off by a guide, just know it is the only way to get access to certain places. At this early stage our team is happy to answer any queries via phone or email or hold a face to face meeting should you wish to discuss the various options that are available to you when deciding upon a destination or itinerary. Post-booking

Having decided which tour you want to do, you complete the booking online or via email. On completion of the booking, you will receive a confirmation email from us which sets out all the information relating to your trip, including the accommodation list. Around 1 - 2 months before your trip start date we send your information pack. This vital dossier contains the trip info document, the finalised accommodation list, the adventure safe leaflet, the John Muir Trust leaflet (UK only), luggage labels (if applicable) and depending on the trip, up-to-date route notes, guidebooks and maps. Please note:

• 1 info pack is sent to the lead booker's chosen address, but additional info packs can be sent on request.
• If your trip is operated by one of our partners, you will receive your info pack on arrival at your destination.
• On bookings with 6 people or more, we will send a set of maps and guidebooks per couple.

Adventure time

As your trip approaches our team are on hand to answer any specific last-minute questions you might have, anything and everything including restaurant recommendations. Whilst on your trip we offer 24/7 support, in the case that something does go wrong we have a network of local partners who will deal with any issues you might have. If you need anything added to your trip such as additional nights, or transfers this can be arranged (depending on availability) whilst you walk, cycle and explore.
