Starting out from the musical city of Vienna, this cycling tour follows the Danube through Slovakia, Hungary and Serbia. [caption id="attachment_18611" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Bike garden of the Danube[/caption]Why combine boat and bike?
Cycling this great waterway of Europe gives you easy access to some of the most historically and culturally significant cities on the continent; Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest and Belgrade. By day you'll be free to ride along the Danube, exploring cities and marvel at imposing fortresses dotted along the forested banks of the Danube. In the evening you'll rejoin the Theodor Körner where you can return to your cabin, relax on the deck and enjoy dinner with your fellow Danube explorers. Starting out from the city of Vienna, the Theodor Körner sails east into Slovakia and across the great Hungarian Plains where views extend across to the Carpathian and Balkan mountains. Before reaching Belgrade, there is an opportunity to explore the exceptional 18th century Petrovaradin Fortress at Novi Sad with its 16km network of underground tunnels. The overnight sail to Belgrade allows a full day of exploration in this city of contrasts where socialist blocks stand alongside the art noveau of early 20th century. Following with two days of countryside cycling through wineyards, villages and the Drava National Park, a peaceful retreat for Black Storks, leads onto the final two stops of Budapest and Bratislava. After a day of sightseeing around Budapest the abundance of hot springs is perfect for recharging tired legs ready for the final stop of the tour at the charming Slovakian capital of Bratisalva. This 10 day, 9 night itinerary is limited to two sailings in August 2016, so if you're tempted by the Viennese sweets, the gritty city of Belgrade and the easy cycling along the picturesque cycle path, we would recommend early booking to secure the cabin of your choice.
