In a Nutshell
Distance: 6 day of cycling, average daily distance around 45km-50km per day. Grading: Easy to Moderate.Cycling in Mallorca made easy
The largest of the Spain's Balearic Islands, Mallorca is big on personality, charm and most of all, cycling! You don’t have to ride far out of Palma to find yourself pedaling along rugged coastal roads or easy going country lanes. Rich agricultural lands means local dishes are home grown, fresh and irresistibly tasty. Our favourites are the local paella (made with noodles rather than rice) and slices of handmade sweet Turron, made from the local almonds. From your ‘casa rural’ accommodation, daily rides sweep through citrus and olive groves and pass through rustic villages where sleepy plazas are great for taking a cafe con leche break. The last few days of your holiday head north east to the historic coastal town of Pollenca. It’s well worth making the visit to the 13th century Moorish Monastery of Lluc before making the hard decision of which beach to select for your siesta.Getting the wheels in motion
You don’t have to be professional cyclist to ride in Mallorca! Planned for the keen recreational leisure cyclist this journey follows quiet rolling roads with daily distances of 45km-50km. However there are options on several days to extend your cycling day should you have an energetic urge. Flying into Palma is the usual entry point into Mallorca and we include an arrival transfer to your 15th century country house accommodation. With the guidance of your route notes the charming country lanes of central Mallorca are yours to discover before heading over to the east coast for a couple nights of well earnt beach time and coastal cycling. Mallorca is a popular destination from March through to October due to its sunny climate however July and August are excessively sunny and hot for cycling, so it’s sensible to avoid cycling in these months. You can also hire bikes or add additional nights as options.
