Weekly Cycle: Italy Bike & Boat- Sicily & the Aeolian Islands

This week we're sailing off to the sunny Sicilian archipelago of the Aeolian Islands just in time for the height of summer! Join us for a brand new beautiful 8 day & 7 night holiday that combines sailing, cycling and hiking.

In a Nutshell:

Where is it? Embarking in the Port of Milazzo you'll island-hop your way to Vulcano, Mt. Stromboli, Panarea, Salina and Lipari.
Distance: 103km
Grading: This tour is rated easy to moderate.
The distances you will cycle are between 14 and 34 km. The trip is guided with plenty of stops, so you don't have to worry about reading maps or finding your way.

Why Bike & Boat the Aeolian Islands?

You will get to cycle the islands of Vulcano, Lipari and Salina, the top cycling destinations of the Aeolian Islands, and enjoy walking and hiking on Panarea and Mt. Stromboli. On Vulcano Island, also known as the "Sulphur Island," where you will get to enjoy the numerous creeks and explore the Grotta del Cavallo, and its 'deafening silence,' and go for a dip in the Piscina di Venere. Visit the Island of Salina famous for its starring role in the 1994 film Il Postino and Malvasia wine. and enjoy a granita at the famous Da Alfredo bar. Foodies will be in Sicilian food heaven as all of your meals will be authentic and prepared using fresh seafood, cheese, meats, pasta, and in-season fruits and vegetables.  You will be treated to dishes such as arancini, crawfish and spaghetti, caponata, and more. You will also have the opportunity to taste world famous local wine Malvasia at the Hauner Winery.

Planning and Preparation:

This tour is available from April to September and departs on set dates. Any month will offer you warm temperatures and weather. If you're looking for lush landscapes, however, then May would be the best time to go. Peak season is typically mid-July through to early September. As there are a limited number of departures and cabins we recommend booking as soon as your travel dates are confirmed in order to secure your cabin. You will be taken care of from the moment you arrive at Catania Aiport with a transfer to the Port of Milazzo.
