5 Must-See Salvador Dalí sites in Catalonia

One of the most influential and famous Spanish artists, Salvador Dalí is famous world over for his surrealist pieces. Born in the Catalan town of Figueres, Catalonia is the best place to discover some of the top sites associated with his life and art and see the inspiration behind many of his pieces. Here are our top 5!

The Dali Theatre-Museum in Figueres - probably the most famous Dali sight, this fascinating museum houses a big collection of his artwork and is also where he is buried, in a crypt below the museum. We highly recommend booking tickets and adding on a night in Figueres to explore here.

Sant Ferran Castle

Sant Ferran Castle - this large military fortress just outside Figueres was where Dali served in 1927. You can explore it's moat and galleries on an inflatable boat.

Mount Pani - the hill behind the town of Cadaques, where Dali liked to climb and paint the town from.

One of Dali's famous egg sculptures

Port Ligat - just outside Cadaques, this small town is where Dali and his wife chose to make their home and he lived here until 1982. It's a unique labyrinth like place filled with personal objects belonging to the couple and some of his signature giant egg sculptures. Another place you will definitely want to book tickets for in advance!

Cap de Creus - this rocky, picturesque peninsula was another location which inspired some of Dali's works. Dali and his wife Gala spent much of their time here, swimming, relaxing and creating installations.
